Memorial Day
Many of us “celebrate” Memorial Day as the unofficial first day of summer — the public pools open, we can officially wear white, and who can forget the start of the BBQ season. Memorial Day originated as Decoration Day after the Civil War in 1868. It was a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Today, we observe Memorial Day by remembering those who died while serving in the military. Unlike Veterans Day, where we honor all who have served in the military, we pay tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom in giving their lives. In honor of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, let us read and pray these bible verses (from biblestudytools.com).
