Doing God's Will

I don’t think that I am alone when I say that I want to do God’s will. There are many songs that we sing on Sundays that talk about believers wanting to do God’s will, or that we are ready to do God’s will. In this week’s Our Daily Bread devotional, Amy Boucher Pye penned, "When we submit ourselves to His will and His ways, He transforms us as He washes us clean from our sins." Transformed, washed, and cleaned by God -- I want this not only for myself but also for The Well Church and all believers. The real question behind this statement is “What is God’s will for me?” I often struggle with this question. However, the answer lies in Scripture. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 we read, "Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." Submitting to God’s will is not a destination, it is a lifestyle. David Platt said in his book Follow Me, "His ultimate concern is not to get you or me from point A to point B along the quickest, easiest, smoothest, clearest route possible. Instead, his ultimate concern is that you and I would know him deeply as we trust him more completely (131)." Life is about knowing God and trusting Him. We do this by not only worshipping God on Sundays, but studying His word together as a community. To that end, I invite you, the church, to join us after fellowship on Sundays to study the bible. The Well Church, let us be a church that knows him deeply and trust him completely.
