Pleasing God (2-minute Devotional)

What will you do on the day of the appointed festival,

and on the day of the feast of the LORD?

—Hosea 9:5

Many want to please God but are not sure how to please Him. When we do not know how to please Him, we sometimes get frustrated or simply burnout from serving and trying to live the “perfect” life. All of us probably have firsthand experience or have seen someone burnout and leave the church. The Israelites were no different — they wanted to please God, but failed because they attempted to please Him their way and not God’s. To please God, we must understand our relationship with God. It must be based on love and not rules. God’s love is “higher than the heavens” (Psalm 108:4b). Because He loves us, we love (1 John 4:19). Brothers and sisters, remember that God loves you!

For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

—Psalm 108:4
