Resurrection Power (2-Minute Devotional)
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. —Ephesians 2:1-3
In today’s text, the Apostle Paul uses two words to describe sin. The first word, “trespass” indicates deviating from the right course or breaking a command. The second word, “sin,” means to fall short of the mark. It means to not meet a specific standard. Today’s text reminds us that as fallen beings, we are spiritually dead in trespasses and sins. We are not spiritually well nor are we sick. We are dead incapable of saving ourselves. What fallen man needs is not medicine, but resurrection. Believers have this resurrection power. Believers no longer have to fear death. The Well Church, let us live with heaven in mind and rejoice in Him.
