Reflection

Take with you words and return to the LORD;
—Hosea 14:2a

Hosea teaches Israel how to confess and repent. Repentance requires preparation. He instructs his people to "take words" with them. The phrase means to know what to say ahead of time. It requires genuine reflection. Saying sorry is not enough. We must recognize the magnitude of our sin. We cannot minimize it.

The Well Church, I want to encourage you today in self-reflection. What areas of your life must you surrender to God today? Is your confession current? Seek God today, asking Him to search your heart.

Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
—Psalm 139:23-24
