Love and Justice (2-minute Devotional)
“So you, by the help of your God, return, hold fast to love and justice, and wait continually for your God.” —Hosea 12:6
In the middle of God’s indictment against Israel, Hosea calls them to return to God. It is only by grace we can return and maintain love and justice. Love and justice are at the foundation of being God’s people. They are the “weightier matters of the law” (Matthew 23:23).
The Well Church, what does maintaining love and justice look like to you? As God’s children, we are called to love God and our neighbors. We do not get to choose our neighbors. We can only love our neighbors by knowing them. We cannot ignore injustice. What can you and I do about the injustices around us? What is one thing you can do today to maintain love and justice? Be the light and salt of the world.
For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. —Isaiah 61:8
