The Work of Ministry

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, —Ephesians 4:11-12

There is a lot of work to do in the church, whether it is getting ready for Sunday worship, serving each other in the church, serving our neighbors, etc. Who should do the work of ministry? In today's text, the Apostle Paul teaches us that pastors and teachers' role is "to equip the saints for the work of ministry." The saints are members of the church — that means you and me!

Brothers and sisters, how are you engaged in the work of ministry? Let us use our gifts to serve God, one another in the church, and our neighbors to build up the body of Christ. Let us be a living and active church.
