Your Reputation

Who is wise and understanding among you?
By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. —James 3:13

Many want a reputation for superior intelligence and wisdom. How does one demonstrate such knowledge? For James, wisdom is not only an intellectual but also behavioral. Those who are wise show their wisdom by their exemplary conduct, a beautiful lifestyle. James continues that meekness and humility come from one's faith and trust in God.

But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. — Psalm 37:11

Dear church, as James teaches us, let us live out our faith by trusting in God's wisdom and not ours. As Isaiah writes,

"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine." — Isaiah 55:8 (NLT)
