Harmonious Church

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? 
Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? —James 4:1

Although the church is a body, the members are not always harmonious. Churches often split, wounding her members. What causes fights within the church of Jesus Christ? James names our passions, selfish desires which stem from our pride, as the source of complaints and conflicts within the church. If you are not at peace with your community, then you are the problem!

Brothers and sisters, are you at peace with those around you? As God commands, let us humbly submit to God and one another by laying down the idols of our hearts and be harmonious at our home, work, school, and church.

To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble; —1 Peter 3:8 (NASB)
