Just Ask
You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. —James 4:2-3
How is your prayer life?
We often pray to God when we are in desperate need of His help. In situations where we can fix our problems with money, we resort to our bank accounts, friends, family, and even the church to help us financially. Only when we are stuck, we go to God in prayer. In other words, our prayers are usually selfish.
James instructs his readers to pray and ask God for things appropriately. Not all prayers are pleasing to God. Our prayers need to be aligned with God’s will as revealed in His word. As Jesus said,
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” —Matthew 7:7
Saints at The Well Church, as we grow closer to God in word and prayer, we will be able to ask anything according to his will. He hears us!
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. —1 John 5:14-15
