Less is more

The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. - John 1:35-37

John the Baptist's actions were unconventional as he was giving his disciples away. In antiquity and even today, one's effectiveness as a leader depended on the leader's number of followers. After declaring that Jesus is the "Lamb of God," John the Baptist urges his disciples to follow Jesus Christ. His act can only come from a place where he trusts God and understands his calling.

Gideon faced a similar situation in Judges 7. God said to Gideon,

"The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.'" - Judges 7:2

Often with God, less is more.

The Well Church, is God asking you to trust in Him by giving yourself away? What are you holding on to that is interfering with your relationship with God? Whether it is your time, treasure, or talents, let us release them and follow God wholeheartedly. Let us live by faith and not by sight.
