I will follow

But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. - Ruth 1:16

What does it look like to follow Jesus? In Ruth, we see how she pledges to follow Naomi. She states, "For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge." She not only promises to follow her physically but also be with her covenantally. Her confession of "your people shall be my people, you God my God" recalls God's covenant promise from Exodus.

"I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians." - Exodus 6:7

The Well Family, as God's covenant community, we are not only followers of Christ; we belong to Him. We are His people! As such, let us live courageously in living out our holy calling. Let us know Him and make Him known.
