What are you seeking?

Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" - John 1:38

In today's text, Jesus asks the two who were following him, "What are you seeking?" The question cuts straight to the heart of one's desires, needs, and wants. Concerning this question, theologian Bultmann said, "It is clearly the first question that must be addressed to anyone who comes to Jesus, the first thing that must be clear."

The Well Church, the question applies to us as well -- what do you want from Jesus? Following Christ for our needs would be the equivalent of asking Jesus to follow us. Are you following Jesus for the right reasons?

Let us follow Him for who He is, the founder and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
