You Matter
One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter). - John 1:40-42
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, plays a minor role in the bible. Although he is the first to follow Jesus, he is only mentioned 12 times. However, today's text captures one of his most significant acts as a follower of Jesus Christ -- he leads his brother to Jesus Christ.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us remember that no matter how insignificant we may feel in our role at church, we have an essential task at hand. You matter to God! God calls us to lead others to Jesus Christ. Andrew tells his brother, "We have found the Messiah." He does not have to convince Peter to follow Jesus. Who can you bring to Jesus? Let us follow Andrew's simple yet, powerful example in leading others to Christ.
