Reaffirming your faith

Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God's justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. - Romans 1:29-32 (NLT)

Scripture teaches us that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). It is a sobering reality that we are not good. People do not generally sin in innocent ignorance. The prophet Isaiah writes,

All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all. - Isaiah 53:6 (ESV)

The following quote from R. C. Sproul best sums up our fallen condition:

"We are not sinners because we sin. We sin because we are sinners."

How can we save ourselves from sin? Because we are born sinners, we must be born again by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Bible promises,

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. - John 1:12-13 (NLT)

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us reaffirm our faith and reflect on God's love for us today. Let us hold tune out the enemy's lies by firmly placing our trust in God's Word today. Your salvation is eternally secure!
