Just Do It

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. —James 4:17

Many believe that doing wrong is a sin. James teaches that sin is also not doing right in today's text, commonly called "sin of omission." It is not only what we do that matters, but also what we fail to do to God. This teaching is consistent with what James wrote in chapter one, where he explains that we must be doers of the word (1:22). When we have failed to obey His Word, we have sinned against our Almighty God.

Jesus gives us an example of a sin of omission in the Good Samaritan parable (Luke 10:30-37). The priest and the Levite sinned by not helping and taking care of a man in need.

The Well Church, let us be willing and able to do what God commands us to do. What is he calling you to do? Is he asking you to restore and renew a broken relationship? Reach out to them! Is he asking you to render a service? Just do it!

May you experience the power of God in your life as you trust and obey Him.
