The Breastplate of Righteousness
Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. - Ephesians 6:14-15
After fastening the "belt of truth," the believers must put on the "breastplate of righteousness." Richard Phillips says that the breastplate of righteousness refers to the perfect righteousness of Christ imputed to us through faith alone and our commitment to personal holiness. The Apostle Paul writes in the Book of Philippians,
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith - Philippians 3:8–9
The Well Church, let us put on the righteousness of Christ by confessing our need of our Lord Jesus Christ and his perfect righteousness. Then, let us commit ourselves to personal holiness and live by faith.
