Shield of Faith
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; - Ephesians 6:16
Ancient warfare methods used burning arrows and flaming darts to destroy wooden shields. In spiritual warfare, the enemy uses doubt and lies as flaming darts to attack us. We see an example of this with Elijah in 1 Kings 19. After defeating the prophets of Baal, "Then he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba" (1 Kings 19:3). The Apostle Paul encourages believers to take up the shield of faith, defending the devil's attacks.
Dear Church, let us take up the shield of faith each day to defend against the attacks of the evil one.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1
Let us have confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ by trusting Him and the Truth recorded in Scripture.
