The Reason We Sing
Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! - Psalm 96:1-3
Music is powerful. One study suggests that we are hard-wired to respond to music. Music can comfort people in times of mourning. We also sing joyful songs when we are happy.
Today's psalm commands God's people to sing a new song to Him. The psalmist does not mean to write a new song every day. He suggests that our only response is joyful worship when we think about God and His splendor and majesty. God's love, grace, and mercy give us reasons to sing.
The Well Church, I want to encourage you to think about His love today and respond to God in worship. Let us sing to the LORD a new song!
The reason we sing
The reason we lift our voice
Is more than just making harmony
The reason we sing
Is to praise the One
Who gave His son to be
The reason we sing
