Ascribe to the LORD
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth! - Psalm 96:7-9
In today's text, the psalmist encourages the nations to ascribe to LORD the glory that He deserves with worship, including an offering. What does it mean to ascribe to the Lord? It means to explain or recognize God for who He is. To ascribe glory means to give God what He alone deserves. Why would the psalmist command us to bring an offering? One reason is that offerings represent our total devotion to God. By ascribing with an offering, we are giving our full attention to God.
The Well Church, as Scripture commands, let us ascribe to the LORD the glory He deserves by acknowledging Him as our God. Let us give ourselves to the LORD as living sacrifices. As the Apostle Paul writes,
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." - Romans 12:1
