Our God

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. - Psalm 5:4-6

We serve a Holy God. As David points out in today's verses, God does not take pleasure in wickedness. He hates all sin and evildoers. Many of us tend to take this biblical truth too lightly. We approach Him too informally as a friend. Concerning our walk with God, Moses writes,

"You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him." - Deuteronomy 13:4

We must fear and revere our God. The dilemma today's text presents is that we are all sinners. Scripture points out,

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23

and

"It's your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore." - Isaiah 59:2 (NLT)

BUT, there is good news for all who believe in Jesus Christ. As many of us have memorized,

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16

Do you believe in Jesus Christ?

The Well Church, as we stand before a Holy God, let us reaffirm our faith in Jesus Christ. In humble reliance on our Lord Jesus Christ, let us worship God and approach Him with fear and trembling. Let us give Him glory for saving us from His wrath.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. - John 3:36
