Real Love

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us." - 1 John 4:7–12

Have you ever heard of the phrase, God is Love? What does it mean? To understand God's love, one must understand love. In 1 John 4:9-10, the Apostle John writes,

"God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins" (NLT).

One commentator says,

"God is love means that God continually gives of himself to others and seeks their benefit."

The Well Church, God sent his only Son to save His people because He is love. Have you experienced His saving love? Are you genuinely forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ? God is calling you and me to love one another as He loves us. Let us demonstrate God's love to others. And when we do, the invisible God will reveal himself to others through His church.

Let us make Him known.
