Jesus First

(John bore witness about him, and cried out, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'") - John 1:15

In many cultures, including the Jewish culture, the older person is given more respect and priority. In Luke 1:26, we find that John the Baptist was six months older than Jesus Christ. Additionally, John the Baptist's public ministry began before Jesus' ministry. By all accounts, John the Baptist should have been greater than Jesus, whether at home or in ministry. John the Baptist, however, knew that Jesus was mightier than him in every way. He says,

"he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry." - Matthew 3:11b

The Well Church, is Jesus your priority? Let us remember to put Jesus first and worship Him in spirit and truth in all that we do.

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. - Matthew 6:31-33
