In Christ Alone
A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." - John 4:7
Remarkably and shockingly, Jesus becomes vulnerable and shows his fragile humanity to the Samaritan woman by asking for water. Men, especially Jewish men, would not ask a Samaritan woman for water. To see Jesus, the Son of God, ask for water is quite extraordinary. Leaders often do not show their weaknesses to anyone. In our world today, Christians do not show their weaknesses to the world, thinking that it diminishes the power of the gospel. On the contrary, it demonstrates our faith in God alone.
The Well Church, as Jesus demonstrated, let us be vulnerable and honest with our friends and neighbors as we trust God daily. What are you struggling with today? Ask for help inside and outside the church. Let us be an authentic community for the sake of the gospel and display our need for Christ.
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. - 1 Timothy 4:9–10
