Evangelsim 101

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." - John 4:10

Many Christians are afraid to share their faith. Why do Christians have so much fear? Jesus models a way to evangelize in John 4. After conversing with the Samaritan woman, Jesus speaks to her about what matters to her most - her salvation. He explains to her two things. First, salvation is a gift from God. As the Apostle Paul wrote in the Book of Romans,

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23

Salvation is not earned by effort, no matter how hard one tries. Second, we are saved in Christ alone. Jesus said,

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6

Brothers and sisters of The Well Church, evangelism is about speaking to others about salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not self-help or self-improvement, and it is about receiving eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ. As Jesus demonstrates in today's verse, let us go and share the good news with those around us.

Who can you share the good news with today?
