Whose voice?

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. - John 10:1-2

Today is election day in the United States, and many last-minute phone calls and ads will continue to head our way from candidates running for office. What's hard to sort out as voters is the truth. Who can we trust?

When it comes to our souls, we face many different voices. Mixed in with the truth, we hear lies and distorted truths from the enemy of our souls, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. How can we filter out the lies? We must listen to the voice of the One who properly enters through the door, meaning the one who speaks according to Scripture.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. - 1 John 4:1–3

Dear Church, let us focus on Scripture as we navigate our crazy busy world. What is your Shepherd, Jesus Christ, saying to you today?
