Running the Race
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:1–2
We often experience setbacks and disappointments when we try to move forward in our spiritual and relational lives, whether with God, friends, family members, or church members. It is like running with a bungee cord wrapped around our waists. The harder we push ourselves, the stronger the bungee cord pulls us back.
We often struggle with our faith, sin, lies, and spiritual attacks as believers, and these are all bungee cords that hold us back. The author of Hebrews encourages us to lay aside these cords as we run the race set before us with endurance.
Brothers and sisters of The Well Church, what is holding you back in your race set before you? Whether it is unconfessed sin, lack of faith, hopelessness, or unforgiveness, set them at the foot of the cross and cut the cord with the power of Jesus. Let us run the race set before us with confidence and endurance. May God bless you as you follow him.
