Son of God

But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working." This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
- John 5:17-18

From the beginning of his gospel, John claims that Jesus is the eternal Son of God. In responding to the Jewish leaders, Jesus declares that he is equal with God by stating, "My Father is working until now, and I am working." What is the significance of Jesus' statement? If Jesus is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay for the penalty of our sins.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21

Brothers and sisters of The Well Church, as we continue to reflect during this Lenten season, let us remember that our Lord Jesus is the eternal Son of God, who became the perfect sacrifice so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life. Let us humbly bow down and worship our God and thank Him for saving us.
