Hate the sin, love the sinner?

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.
- Psalm 5:4-5

Sunday begins Holy Week, where Jesus willingly went to the cross to pay for the sins of all believers -- past, present, and future. As we see in Psalm 5, God hates not only the sin, but also the sinner. Jesus lived the perfect life and died on the cross so that we may have eternal life, and he satisfied God's wrath once and for all.

The Well Church, as we prepare for Holy Week, let us praise God and thank him for sending us his only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who paid for our sin. Let us make sure our confessions are current by asking for forgiveness today.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. - 1 John 1:8-10
