Where to?

After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.
- John 6:1

When you follow Jesus, he often asks you to go to places you do not want to go, whether reaching out to someone to mend a broken relationship or serving in an area where you do not find joy. In today's text, Jesus goes to "the other side" of the Sea of Galilee, which represents an area where it is politically incorrect for Jews to travel -- it is gentile territory. Although not mentioned, the disciples must have been uneasy about going. However, Jesus performed one of his greatest miracles recorded in the gospels in such gentile territory.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us trust and obey and follow Christ wholeheartedly. May we follow Christ as Ruth followed Naomi when she declared,

"Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God."
- Ruth 1:16b
