Walk the Walk

“The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. - Matthew 23:2-3

There is an old saying, "If you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk." Many Christians and non-Christians know the fundamental teaching of Jesus Christ. Summing up, his teaching is to "love God and love others (Matthew 22:37-39; Mark 12:30-31; Luke 10:27). So, believers, let me ask you, Do you walk the walk by loving God and loving your neighbors?

In the verses above, Jesus addresses his disciples and followers by rebuking the behavior of the scribes and Pharisees. They were more concerned about knowing and teaching the law than following it.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, God is love. You must remember and recognize that God loves you unconditionally to love God and others. As the Apostle John writes,

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God." - 1 John 4:7

Dear Church, true love is sacrificial. Let us "walk the walk" by first receiving God's unconditional love in faith. He loves you! Then, let us love God by worshipping him in Spirit and truth -- our attitudes and actions must reflect the love of God as we declare that God is worthy of all praise. And lastly, let us love those around us as God's children.

What act of love can you do for someone right now?
