Unending Mercy

And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." - John 6:39-40

Jesus teaches that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life and are eternally secure, and he will not lose a single person whom the Father has given him. This doctrine is called the "Perseverance of the Saints." The late R.C. Sproul summarizes the principle this way: "If you have it—that is, if you have genuine faith and are in a state of saving grace—you will never lose it. If you lose it, you never had it."

The Well Church, note that Jesus is the one who holds onto us. The endurance in faith is not our own doing, but it is of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us give praise to God for His unending mercy.

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23
