Hard Message
When many of his disciples heard it, they said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" - John 6:60
Jesus' message was not only hard to accept for the crowd but also his disciples. Many in the hundreds were following Jesus, who found his message hard. His message was not only hard for his disciples in the first century but also today. Here are some messages that people take offense to today:
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him (John 6:56).
You cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24).
Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:28).
Whoever divorces and remarries commits adultery (Luke 16:18).
Love your enemies and pray for those persecuting you (Matthew 5:44).
If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple (Luke 14:26).
Take up your cross and follow me (Matthew 16:24).
Whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 10:33).
The Well Church, what commands and messages of the bible are hard for you to accept? Whatever our opinions may be, the bible is the truth.
"The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever." - Psalm 119:160
Whenever we face difficulties as God's children, let us look to Christ, who
"for the joy set before him . . . endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:2
May God strengthen you and encourage you today as you follow Him.
