Though none go with me...

And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father." After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. - John 6:65-66

Jesus explains once more that without the work of the Holy Spirit, we cannot believe and see our need for a savior. Many followers of Jesus who found his teaching too hard to accept walked away from Jesus and were following Jesus for the wrong reasons. As F. F. Bruce points out, "What they wanted, he would not give; what he offered, they would not receive."

The Well Church, let us ponder the question, Why are you following Jesus? Are you looking for something that has no eternal significance? Jesus offers eternal life through him, and those who feed on him have eternal life. When the going gets tough, let us look to Jesus and remember what he endured for our salvation and follow him.

And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." - Luke 9:23
