What is your response?

So Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you want to go away as well?" - John 6:67

After many of the followers deserted Jesus, he asked his twelve disciples if they also wanted to go. From the question, many conclude that most of the crowd left, and not many more than the twelve remain. Jesus asks the question, not for his sake but for the disciples' sake. They need to articulate a response more than Jesus needs to hear it.

The gospel message garners one of two responses, rejection or acceptance. The disciples were not exempt from making a decision. Were they going to follow Christ or reject him? The decision is not merely a physical response but a spiritual one. Being in the presence of believers does not guarantee one's salvation.

The Well Church, only Jesus saves. Your faithful attendance to church and bible study does not guarantee that you are saved. Let us make sure that we have responded to Jesus' calling and follow and serve Jesus.

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." - Joshua 24:15
