Read with Faith

The Jews said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? - John 7:35

There are two responses to Jesus -- acceptance or rejection. The Jews reject Jesus' warning by mocking Him and completely misunderstand Him, and there is an irony in their mockery. The Book of Acts records the gospel message reaching beyond Israel, and the Apostle Paul's mission was to the Greeks!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." - Acts 1:9

Dear Church, unlike the non-believers, the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of God’s people to see and understand His word. Let us, therefore, humbly approach God, asking for His help as we seek Him through the bible. As the Apostle Paul writes,

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. - 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)

Let us ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes as we read His word. Let us pray Psalm 119:36 as a prayer we read God's word today.

Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! - Psalm 119:36
