Freedom

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - John 8:31-32

The famous verse, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," is often quoted out of context. When misquoted, people assume that knowledge will liberate one's mind. Within John 8, Jesus teaches that we are set free from guilt and the power of sin by knowing the truth by abiding in His word through obedience and faith. Jesus Christ is the source of truth, the perfect standard. 

Dear Church, Jesus demonstrated His love for us by dying on the cross to set us free.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8

Let us remain in Him as we read and pray through His word as a church.
