Freedom in Christ
Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. - John 8:34-36
Many make the mistake of thinking that individuals can control sin; however, in reality, sin enslaves and controls us, often dictating our actions. As Jesus states, those who are slaves to sin cannot escape from the power and presence of sin.
Jesus Christ is the only one who can free us from sin's power, presence, and penalty.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, - 1 Peter 3:18
Children of God, you have been set free and brought near to God by Jesus Christ's sacrifice. Let us not take our freedom for granted, but stand firm, remain in Christ, and enjoy our freedom in Him.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. - Galatians 6:1
