God's Word
I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father." - John 8:37-38
We have prayed through the Bible for about a week as a church. How has your experience been? I hope that your experience has been fresh and powerful. As Donald Whitney said, "When you pray the Bible, you aren't just praying ordinary words; you are praying words of spirit and life."
In today's text, Jesus warns the religious leaders of their sinfulness and the spiritual condition of their hearts. They had no room for Jesus' words in them. The psalmist teaches that careful memorization and meditation of God's word are ways to fight against sin.
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. - Psalm 119:11
Dear Church, may you hear from your Father in heaven as you meditate and pray through His word.
