Despite their differences, two opposing religious parties, the Sadducees and Pharisees, have come together to face their common challenge: the threat of losing their power, position, and possessions. Interestingly, both parties fully acknowledge and admit the miracles performed by Jesus. However, their spiritual blindness, brought on by their own sin, prevented them from believing in Jesus as the Son of God.
Sadly, many individuals among us find themselves in a similar predicament. Despite experiencing the healing power of Jesus or witnessing His transforming power on others, they deny Him as their Lord simply because they are unwilling to let go of their current lifestyle and priorities.
One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. PROVERBS 29:23
Dear Church, as we meditate on today's passage, let us examine our ego and pride and make sure that there is nothing in our hearts that hinders us from following Christ as our Lord. May we remain humble and open to His leading.
