God's Assurance

This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life. Psalm 119:50

Life is full of ups and downs, highs and lows, and seasons of joy and sorrow. We will all inevitably face despair with no hope. Some of you reading this post today may be facing such a situation. Yet, as we looked at last Sunday, the psalmist reminds us of a critical truth that shines through even during the darkest circumstances. Today’s verse resonates with strong assurance.

The psalmist holds on to the promise of God amid trials. God's promise is not a vague assurance or an empty pledge. It is a commitment that surpasses time and circumstance. His promises are the foundation upon which our faith can stand firmly, regardless of life's storms. His promises assure us that we are never alone, even when our circumstances make us feel that way. In our darkest moments, God assures us,

"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20b

Dear Church, if you find yourself in the midst of affliction, hold on tightly to the promises of God. Open His word, and immerse yourself in His promises. May they be your comfort and source of life.
