Obedience
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15
Jesus states that our love for Him is linked to obeying His commandments. "If" implies that our love for Jesus should naturally embody obedience. Love becomes the driving force behind our desire to keep His commandments. Jesus didn't simply say, "If you believe in me" or "If you follow me." He emphasized the significance of our love, revealing that love and obedience go hand in hand.
To love Jesus is to embrace His teachings, character, and will for our lives. It means prioritizing our relationship with Him above all else. Love motivates us to submit our will to His and to align our lives with His perfect plan. Obedience, then, becomes a heartfelt response to the love we have received from Him.
Obedience should never feel like a burdensome obligation but rather a natural response to our love for Jesus.
Dear Church, let us seek His grace to love Him more deeply and to respond obediently to His love. May the Holy Spirit empower us to walk in love and obedience, reflecting the image of our loving Savior to those around us.
